This is a common issue encountered in the construction industry across the globe most especially in the developing countries.  In Ekiti-State, more than 15% of construction projects experienced more than five months delay while some were abandoned as a result of economic recession. Hence, the study of the impact of economic recession on public project delivery is very important in order to minimize the delay in the number of project delivery. This study identified the major causes of economic recession in Nigeria and as well suggested key strategies for firms to survive in economic recession. A descriptive research design is undertaken for this study while stratified sampling techniques was used via the use of self administered questionnaires to obtain relevant information. The data collected was analyzed by descriptive statistical tools using frequency, percentage, mean and relative importance index (RII). The study revealed that the major cause of economic recession in Nigeria is poor economic planning. It also revealed that time overrun is the most rated impact of economic recession on public project executed in Ekiti-State.
